February 13 SammenholdI thought I would share this new article with you because it's a powerful, graphic iteration of the kind of hate we face in the Muslim world. Gone are the days when Muslims terrorized and attacked us from afar. Today, they are in our very midst, walking among us, living near us, and worshipping in our neighborhoods. The threat of terror and hate is more real than ever.
Two years ago, you might remember this story. Muslims were up in arms, literally, over a handful of admittedly humorous cartoons.
Well, this week, five men have been arrested in connection with plot to murder one of the cartoonists.
In a show of sammenhold, papers across Europe have reprinted the cartoon in question.
Many people have said the cartoons never should have been printed, and that we should seek to understand Muslims and engage them in dialogue. Those same people apparently have no problem stifling free speech. Praytell, how exactly does one talk to a Muslim, or come to some sort of understanding with them? They want us dead and/or converted - period. Their starting point is our demise, no matter what sort of concessions we offer, or what promises we make. In the end, our death and/or conversion is their goal. No, you cannot negotiate with them. You cannot understand them. You cannot talk to them.
This recent development is a great sign that all is not yet lost in Europe. The mighty Danes have shown great resistance to the intolerant, hate-filled Muslims, and I am happy to stand in sammenhold with them.
What will America do when our time comes?
May 24 Racial Demons Resurface with Nooses on Louisiana Treehttp://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070524/ts_alt_afp/uspoliticsracism_070524134732 Ahhh racial demons! Get 'em off me! Get 'em off! Here's the thing that really ticks me off: first of all, anything from AFP is subject to a considerable degree of skepticism from yours truly. To open, the writer prefaces his article by painting all southern white people as racist, citing lynchings that happened "several decades ago" as if they were last week. But then, the body of the article describes a few isolated, largely unconnected incidents and strung them together, placing the blame squarely on whites, a few white boys specifically. The fact that they were punished justly for their misdemeanors is irrelevant to the purposes of this article. Whites southernes are racist pigs, and blacks are victims. Again, it's the race card left-wing liberals and socialists enjoy pulling on us all the time. Blacks will never be paid enough, be educated enough, or have enough of anything, if you buy into this. Then, in a bid for some credibility, he cites a report by the oh-so-credible Urban League, while characterizing all blacks as victims of white oppression. As one person puts it, "The Urban League is nothing more than a black man's National Enquirer." There's no denying racism still exists. It exists in parts of the South, to be sure; however, let us not forget that racism exists in every part of the country as well. As a Southerner, I am insulted that in the 21st century anyone (much less the French Press - hello, Algeria? Congo?) would try to portray the South as a nothing but a region full of lynch mobs. It is irresponsible, it is arcane, and ultimately it is detrimental to society. Am I guilty of lynching? Am I guilty of "holding the black man down?" Have I ever beaten or lynched a black man? No, no, and no. Unlike the author of this drivel, do not be fooled into thinking this is a North-South issue, or a black and white issue. If that be the case, we might as well fight the Civil War again. All races, in all societies, worldwide, practice racism to some degree. If you don't believe me, ask a Greek what he thinks of Turks. Ask an Irish what he think of English. Ask an Indian what he thinks of Bangladeshis. And that's the way it is. |
